30 Days Best safari in Uganda and Rwanda

Day 1: Arrival in Entebbe, Uganda

On arrival, our tour guide will welcome you in the pearl of Africa and drive you through Uganda’s first capital city to your place of accommodation for relaxation and more preparations for you safari.

Day 2: Entebbe to Kampala

Having had a delicious breakfast, your tour guide will come pick you up and drive you to Uganda Wildlife Education Centre (UWEC) for a taste of Uganda’s wildlife. You will later  explore Kampala: visit the Uganda National Museum, Kasubi Tombs, and local markets.

Day 3: Murchison Falls National Park

At dawn after breakfast your tour guide will drive you to Murchison Falls national park, the drive will take about 6-7 hours driving across Central Uganda to the far west of the country across the way. You shall stop by ziwa rhino sanctuary for rhinoceros tracking and wildlife viewing this activity might take about an hour then proceed to the country’s largest national park. On arrival you will check in at the beautiful lodge and later go for an evening game drive. After this breathtaking experience you will head back to the lodge for dinner and overnight stay as you prepare for the next day.

Day 4: morning game drive and afternoon boat ride on the white Nile

On the next morning you will embark on a game drive ar dawn, high chances of viewing fauna feeding and catching their morning meal. Then later head back to the lodge for lunch. In the afternoon you will drive to the base of the Murchison Falls, the world’s powerful waterfall and enjoy a boatride on the still waters of the white Nile. Here you will have high chances of viewing animals hydrating and cooling down their body temperatures such as African elephants, hippos, African buffaloes and giraffes. You can later close the day with an evening walk in the African savanna to feel the attachment of the wild. You will then head back to the lodge enjoy dinner and prepare for the next day.

Day 5: Kibale National Park

After getting geared up with a delicious breakfast, your tour guide will drive you South to Kibale National Park. Home to Uganda’s highest population of chimpanzees. Along these amazing creatures comes an amazing birding experience in Kibale’s Bigodi Wetland Sanctuary. Right after that you can as well enjoy the mesmerizing Bigodi swamp walk that can take about 2 hours.

Day 6: Chimpanzee Tracking

On the next morning after breakfast, you will drive to parks reception where the warden will brief you on the rules and regulations for Chimpanzee tracking. You will later enter the forest and embark on adventure. When you reach the chimpanzees you spend an hour with the chimpanzees with face masks for your health and the chimpanzees health. The activity will take about 3-4 hours depending on the location of the chimps in the forest.

After the adventurous activity, you will head back to the lodge. You can as well go for a community walk which is optional.

Day 7: transfer to Queen Elizabeth National Park

After having a morning momentum, you will drive further south to the medley of wonders the second largest national park. The drive might take about 4-5 hours. You will enter through the northern part of the national in the kasenyi plains. On arrival you will check in at the lodge and enjoy lunch. After that you will go for an afternoon game drive that comes with possible chances of viewing game such as Giraffes, African elephants, African buffaloes and Uganda kobs. After enjoying this experience you will drive back to the lodge, enjoy dinner and reminisce on how far your safari is going on.

Day 8: Morning game drive and transfer to Ishasha sector.

 Having enjoyed breakfast in the African savanna, you will drive to through the national park and enjoy a morning game drive and enjoy another session of memorable experience in the wild add more to your photo gallery and the experience. You will later go to kazinga channel for a boat ride in the afternoon have chances of viewing game such African elephants, hippos and African buffaloes. Then go back to for relaxation and overnight stay

Day 9: morning game drive and Ishasha sector for ,tree  climbing lions.

At day nine’s dawn you will start the day with breakfast, and head out for a morning game drive as you bid a memorable farewell to the northern sector of the national park. Along the way you will have possible sightings of the wildlife such as African elephants, hippos and African buffaloes. On arrival you will check in and later go to view the unique tree climbing lions of the medley of wonders. Resting above the ground in large acacia trees for better views and temperature regulations, these beautiful creatures display an amazing tale of the African wild.

Day 10: transfer to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park

At dawn of day 10, you will have breakfast and later drive to Bwindi Impenetrable forest National Park for Africa’s best highlight. Gorilla Trekking. The drive will take about 5-6hours. And you will start your tracking from buhoma sector. On arrival you will check in and relax, you can go for an evening walk in the forest or the community.

Day 11: Gorilla tracking

After your early morning breakfast, you will drive to the park reception where the park warden will brief you and then divide you in groups of eight and assign to each gorilla family or group. When you reach the Gorilla group you will spend an hour with the great apes with your face masks on to ensure the safety of your health and the gorillas health. After enjoying arguably the world’s best highlight you will drive back to the lodge and relax as you prepare for the next adventure.

Day 12: transfer to Mgahinga national park

Having enjoyed the morning breakfast, you drive deeper into the Switzerland of the pearl of Africa closer to the slopes of Mufumbiro Ranges. The drive will take about 4-5 hours. On arrival you will check in at the lodge and relax or go for a community walk and gain a deeper insight about the ways of the Virunga Mountains.

Day 13: Golden Monkey Trekking in Mgahinga Gorilla National Park

 At dawn of day 13, you will embark on an adventure where silver meets gold. You will drive to the park reception where you have a briefing about the activity. The activity will take about 4-5 hours depending on the location of the golden monkeys. After the adventurous activity you drive back to the lodge and have a relaxation time and reminisce about the experience then prepare for the next day.

Day 14: transfer to Lake Bunyonyi

After enjoying a tranquil night, you will enjoy a delicious breakfast and then your tour guide will drive you to Lake Bunyonyi a name derived from the variety of bird species meaning “many birds”. The drive will take about 2-3 hours and will come with amazing views of the Mufumbiro Ranges. You will drive through Echuya central forest reserve known for its birding, olive baboons and indigenous Batwa community. On arrival you will check in and enjoy the mesmerizing environment on Lake Bunyonyi.

Day 15: boat ride and hiking

Halfway through the safari, you will wake up to a delicious breakfast by the lake with a variety of songs of a birds and later enjoy a morning boat ride on Lake Bunyonyi across the still waters and ideal climate on the lake as well riding through the 29 islands. Here you will enjoy not just a boat ride but also bird watching. Later you will enjoy lunch and go for hiking activity on the surrounding hillls.

Day 17: Cross to Rwanda

Early morning after breakfast you will check out and prepare to travel to the land of a thousand hills. Your tour guide will pick you up from the lodge and drive you to katuna border to cross the border. Here you will need to keep your documents of identification close for registration as you head into Rwanda. You will drive to Ruhengeri (Musanze district) the gateway to Volcanoes National Park and the drive will take about 6-7 hours

Day 18: Volcanoes National Park

At the break of dawn, you will enjoy breakfast and head to the park reception for the briefing by the park warden, the activity will take about 3-4 hours depending on the location of the Gorilla’s home to the famous mountain gorillas.

Day 19: Dian Fossey Museum and the Karisoke Research Center.

Dian Fossey museum is also known as the karisoke Research center located in the volcanoes national park one of the unique tourism attractions in Volcanoes National Park because it is one of the living memories of Dian Fossey an American primatologist and conservationist who did extensive research about the mountain Gorillas. Later after enjoying this excursion you will have you lunch and have a relaxation time

Day 20: hiking Mt. Bisoke and Mt. Karisimbi

On the next day you will embark on another hiking adventure of hiking two members of the land of a thousand hills. This activity will take about 4-5 hours. Having enjoyed this memorable experience, you will drive back to the lodge relax from the taxing the activity. Then later enjoy dinner and have some quality tranquil rest.

Day 21: transfer to Lake Kivu.

At dawn, after enjoying a delicious morning meal. You your guide will drive you to Lake kivy and the drive will take about 3-4hours. On arrival you will check in and enjoy the views and the experience at the calm shores of Lake kivu. Later you can go for an afternoon boat ride and enjoy the moment more.

Day 22: Morning boat ride and transfer to Nyungwe Forest national park

 After enjoying an amazing breakfast, you will bid farewell to Lake Kivu with the last boat ride and later drive to Nyungwe forest national Park in the far south of Rwanda. The drive will take about 4-5 hours. Upon arrival, you will check in and have a quality relaxation time near the forest as you enjoy the scenic views of the forest.

Day 23: Chimpanzee Tracking.

Having had breakfast, you will drive to the national park headquarters for a briefing from the park warden to have a briefing and a confidence set off to the breathtaking activity. Reaching the chimpanzees, you get to spend an hour with them enjoying this adrenaline rush moment. On completion of this activity, you will head back to the lodge and enjoy lunch and have a relaxation time as you reminisce about the activity. Then later enjoy dinner and have an overnight stay.

Day 24: Canopy walk and transfer to huye (butare) Rwanda’s cultural center.

After your morning adventurous breakfast, you will enjoy a canopy walk above some parts of  the forest, you will view other species of fauna. After this activity you will check out with lunch and your tour guide will transfer you to Huye in Butare, Rwanda’s cultural center. The drive will take 3-4 hours. Upon arrival you will check in and have dinner as well as overnight stay as you prepare for the next adventure.

Day 25: Excursion at Rwanda’s museum.

The early bird catches the warm, after an early morning breakfast, you will drive to Rwanda’s museum and have an experience that provides you with a deeper insight on the country’s history. You will as well have a cultural tour to understand more about the traditions and customs of the people of Rwanda. Later you will relax at the lodge enjoy dinner and overnight stay.

Day 26: transfer to Kigali city

Geared up for the cleanest city in the east of Africa, you will have a farewell breakfast and your tour guide will drive you to the city. The drive will take about 3-4 hours. Upon arrival you will check in the hotel and have relaxation time. Later you can have an evening walk around the city.

Day 27: Kigali city tour.

At dawn,you will have a tranquil breakfast on your pace. Your tour guide will pick you up and take you for the Kigali city tour. Here you will be able to visit the Kigali Genocide Memorial, Kigali convention center and the famous kimeronko market for shopping crafts and surviners.

 Day 28: transfer from Kigali to Entebbe

Having had a quality time in the land of a thousand hills you will drive back to Uganda, the drive will take about 7-8 hours. You will enjoy a moment at the equator enjoy beautiful pictures and have lunch at a restaurant then proceed to Kampala, Uganda’s capital city. Upon arrival you will check in and have dinner and overnight stay.

Day 29: Kampala city tour

On the last day of your stay in the pearl of Africa, you will have breakfast then head to the city visit the local markets and the Uganda museum. Here you will have a chance of trying the famous Rolex or street food which is optional, visit the city’s religious sites such as the namugongo shrines, the Gaddafi mosque and bid farewell to kasubi Tombs.

Day 30: Departure

Depending on your flight schedule, visit the Entebbe Botanical Gardens or relax by Lake Victoria before heading to the airport. Depart from Entebbe International Airport.

Key Tips:

Travel Time: Roads in Uganda and Rwanda can be bumpy, so travel between destinations might take longer than expected.

Health Precautions: Be sure to have malaria prophylaxis, vaccinations (such as yellow fever), and other relevant health preparations for both countries.

Packing: Bring comfortable trekking gear for wildlife excursions, waterproof shoes, and binoculars for bird watching.

Gorilla Trekking Permits: Permits are required for gorilla trekking, so be sure to book in advance, especially in Uganda and Rwanda.
